Do I need a receiver with this home theatre system?
We just have a basic tube TV and an x-box 360, just want our movies and music to sound good.

2 composite, 2 S-Video, 2 component, 1 HDMI inputs

StarTech VGA/HD with Audio to HDMI Format Converter

Plus all the cables to connect them together. However when I connect them, there are no pictures or sound. I’ve tried using the Fn key, but my options are “Monitor” or “Laptop”. So I select the monitor which gives me nothing.

So I can even connect them together or did I waste my time/money?
