How to Mount 50″ Plasma TV on a Concrete Wall?
pegsny asked:
I recently bought this TV that weighs about 120 lbs 50″ plasma tv. the thing is.. the tv sits too low from the ground which is annoying.. so i decided to mount it on our concrete wall (i live on a apt.) no choice since i cant move around my furniture, but im afraid ill ripped the whole wall off even if i put in anchors. any pro people out there??? thanks.

i would install, con create expanding bolts,
you pre drill them ,and tap them home .
they open up ,inside the wall, about 3ins ones would work
if you install some wood on top the bolts, you can move your TV when you need to , and one day you will have to move it , to service it etc the TV will sit better . also
if you call the local handy man he will install it for you
for about $35
you will need to use concrete anchors or large toggle bolts to hold the rack up
you’ll need a hammerdrill with masonary bits to drill the holes
They sell universal mounts for lcd/plasma tv’s for different weights. The major stores are pretty pricey on them. To purchase one, I would go to one of your local pawn shops and ask them if they can order form a company called M&M.
They carry the mountings at a very reasonable price. As far as screwing it in, if you go by the directions for the mounting kit for that weight tv, and use concrete anchors, you will be fine. You can purchase the lead anchors at any hardware store.
I would talk to a local tv shop and ask how much they would charge.. i just got a 42″ plasma and i would not mount it my self to concrete even though i am pretty handy… better to pay some one $100 than to have it fall and be outta luck… also if they hang it they will take responsibilty. BUT if i HAD todo it i would use 3inch TAPCON screws and drill them into the motor. Also hopefully you bought the correct Mount for your t.v and if you are making your own make sure you leave it out from the wall about 5 inches as my 42″ gives off allot of heat.
I’m rather surprised you don’t know about wall mounts for plasma TVs.
They are available where ever the TVs are sold.
Use concrete anchors, and the bolts that will fit them.
We call them ‘drop in’s’ on the job site.
No need to go bigger than the openings in the wall mount bracket.
Just guessing, your bracket opening will require 3/8, 7/16, or even 1/2″ drop in’s and the bolts to fit the drop in’s
Your little TV will not tear the wall down, but you still may need to tell the landlord your intentions.
You may have to do something with the holes to get your deposit back when you move.
